Salt House foie dinner!

The bf and I took a family friend to the Salt house for dinner a couple of weeks ago. I had never been there before, but it’s one of those San Francisco restaurants that everyone’s always talking about. So I figured it’d be a good choice, and it was. The restaurant itself it pretty big. It’s really long and a little narrow, and has really high ceilings, and it does have an upstairs too.

All I can say about the food is that everything we had was great! I had Yellowfin Tuna Tartare to start, and then followed that with Petrale Sole, the bf had the Foie Gras and the Prime New York Steak, and my family friend started with the Baked Oysters and had the Pekin Duck for his main. All of it was amazing. Perfectly cooked, and the portions were a nice size, none were too big. Our waitress was great, and helped us to decide what to have (everything sounded mouthwatering!). She was also really helpful with the wine.

Our friend is quite the wine connoisseur, and of course, brought a bottle (they do have a corkage fee, I think it’s $15-20 per bottle), but their wine list wasn’t bad, and seeing as I was then one who preferred white over red, she suggested a very tasty one to go with my multiple plates of seafood (what can I say, I love the stuff!)

Over all, Salt House is a really great restaurant. It’s got a great atmosphere, it’s lively, the wait staff are awesome, and the food is amazing. It’s great for groups and friends, but I don’t think I’d recommend it for a romantic dinner, or dinner with anyone elderly….it is LOUD in there.

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans are suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you.
