I know that I have already written about Café on the Ave, announcing my praises for them from the highest roof tops. But since then, I have tried new things, experienced new tastes, and been so adventurous in my ordering that I had to write a quick sequel to my experiences at Café on the Ave.
Last Friday, I was sick. My stuffed nose morphed into a sore throat that started off with a raspy voice and quickly morphed into a barely audible squeak. Unfortunately, Friday was also the day that I was meeting my best friend for coffee in between classes. I arrived early and strayed away from my usual lattes and ordered a peppermint tea and a bagel with herb cream cheese to hopefully give more oomph to my cough and squeak.
At a typical café, this order would be nothing special. Normal cafes would throw some water and a teabag in a cup, give me a untoasted bagel and a cream cheese packet and I would have to spread cold cream cheese on with a plastic knife. But Café on the Ave goes above and beyond, which is why I have to write this blog praising them.
First, my grande tea came in a grande ceramic cup. I love this. It made me feel like a giant because the cup was large and it just gives that cozy feeling. Second, the peppermint tea was organic. I’m no tea connoisseur but I have been drinking tea for the past 18 years or so. The peppermint tea was delicious.
Third (and this deserves a whole section), the bagel was amazing. Café on the Ave toasted it so it was nice and warm. Plus, they spread the cream cheese on and they did not skimp. My warm bagel arrived with a lovely layer of herb cream cheese on top. My first bite exceeded my expectations. Later, I even commented on how delicious the herb cream cheese really is and apparently, Café on the Ave has a salmon cream cheese. Oh Café on the Ave, you’ve got me hooked. You know I am coming back.
