Mexican Anyone?!
Tagged Places:  Matador

After playing basketball at Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center my boy Casey and I decided to go to The Matador Restaurant and Tequila Bar for some later lunch. When we arrived something told me this wasn't the average Mexican joint. The entrance featured black cast iron gate with a iron bull's skull mounted underneath the name. Very cool! Once inside I quickly noticed the atmosphere, including unique woodworking, antique light fixtures, custom ironwork, and the warmth of an open fireplace. We sit at the bar and there's at least 65 different Tequilas!! Am I in Heaven? Anyways, time to eat. I ordered the Braised Pork Sandwich: Slow roasted pork, caramelized onions, lettuce, cilantro, sweet cherry peppers and chiptle mayo. Fantastic! Anyone who knows me knows that Patron Silver/Platinum is my drink of choice. They didn't serve it there! Dayummm.. The Bartender quickly suggested what he thought was the next best thing: El Mayor Blanco. Good choice. I spent the next day thinking about the experience I had at the Matador ( especially the sandwhich ) and went back the third day. I order the Matador Taco Plates: flour tortillas, topped with Guajillo-Ancho chile sauce, sour cream, lettuce and pico de gallo. I had one pork and one steak..... I'm going back today! Adios.

Yeah ... Matador is a smooth spot. Never been during the day ... but I definitely hit them up for the happy hour during the late night ... I think they open to 2AM which is good for Redmond.
