My first introduction to the Italian restaurant.
Tagged Places:  Mia Roma

Being Italian, I have always had reservations about going out to Italian restaurants because there was no way that Italian food could be any better than what I could get from a family gathering. Still, my parents were insistent that we went out to Mia Roma, a landmark in Kenmore.

The first time I went we ate outside and I remember distinctly grape vines and my mom having to constantly smack my hand away from the vine because I was so hungry I wanted to eat the grapes. I was also introduced to Italian sodas that night. Sadly, I had no idea the profound effects of heavy cream on my stomach so my excitement was immediately followed by regret. I guess it wasn't the brightest idea to order Fettuccine Alfredo.

I have to admit though my expectations were set high, Mia Roma did not meet them. I'm sorry to say. The only place that has ever even come close to good Italian in my eyes is Calabria's in Kirkland, but I guess I need to go to places like Chicago and New York before I make a final statement.
