Ever since I turned 21 I've always been in to trying new cocktails and beers. Last year my friend introduced me to a place called Brouwer's in Fremont. This Belgian-inspired Cafe has 64 beers on draft, over 300 beers by the bottle, and over 60 selections of Scotch. The book of drink listings can be very overwhelming, but the wait staff is an excellent resource to turn to for recommendations. The patio is very lively during happy hour in the summer and they offer great food (nothing beats pomme frites with beer). Brouwer's is owned by the same people that own Bottleworks, a small beer shop that sells a vast array of imported beers by the bottle, it would be difficult to find another shop like it that offers the same selection. According to their site: "Bottleworks is a specialty beer store located in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. We offer a rotating selection of over 950 beers including seasonal offerings and properly cellared vintage beers along with growler fills, kegs to go, meads, ciders, glassware, chocolates and tobacco products." Both Brouwer's and Bottleworks feature seasonal beer festivals and tastings; my friend went to the recent IPA festival and we've both been to a tasting featuring two local brewers at Bottleworks. Visit either place if you want to try something you've never had before or ask the staff about upcoming beer-related events.
They also both have their own blogs:
