Almost any student at Washington State University will admit to you how awful the town of Pullman is by simply admitting that they cross the state-line over to Idaho for any great meal. Most of my visits to my sister (now a WSU alum) included a family dinner – not on campus, not even in Pullman – but rather, in Moscow. Let’s just say, you don’t see us Huskies crossing over to Canada for a great meal.

One of my favorite places to go when ditching Pullman is Wingers – An American Diner. Only about fifteen minutes west of the WSU campus, Wingers is a fabulous diner specializing in BBQ ribs and entrées of the chicken variety. The first time I ate there was last year, when my mom and I visited Pullman during “Mom’s Weekend”. My sister gathered several of her sorority sisters and their moms, and we drove over to Moscow for our dinner reservations.

Despite our enormous – and slightly hectic – group of ladies, Wingers was very accommodating. They saved a separate room for us, set up like a banquet hall for a Little League end-of-season trophy ceremony. The restaurant was extremely casual, with T.V.s playing sports games, loud music playing throughout the venue, and bright-colored décor. The servers were all really friendly and on top of things, even though we had such a ridiculously large group.

Choosing what to order was the hardest part. I’m kind of a wuss when it comes to spice, so most things BBQ scare me. Luckily, Wingers also serves pasta dishes, sandwiches, skewers, soups, and much much more. Since I wasn’t feeling very adventurous, I decided to go with a classic veggie burger. Everyone makes fun of me for ordering veggie burgers so frequently, especially since I’m not even a vegetarian, but I think they’re delicious. Wingers did not disappoint! The patty the cooked through with delicious, unique spices, and was served with AMAZING fries. I’m pretty picky about the way my French fries are cooked, but was definitely impressed with Winger’s style. The meals aren’t too unreasonably priced, either.

The only complaint I would make is that the service was pretty slow. Granted, we had a huge group, so the cooks and servers were probably pretty pressed for time; but our dinners were all served at different intervals, which was kind of inconvenient. Overall, the meal was excellent, and Wingers proved to be the perfect place for our large group of feisty females.
