After the beat the bridge race my dad and I completed in May 2008, we were both starving. The traffic was really bad trying to get out on Montlake so we decided to take the back roads through Lake City on the way home and by consequence went through Kenmore. After doing heavy cardio, for someone who isn't used to it, one knows that the thing that will satisfy most is a heavy, fattening, greasy meal. We were headed towards a Denny's. Sadly, the Denny's in Kenmore has been closed for a few years at this point so we couldn't go but never fear! Jay's Cafe was right there.

Thsi cafe is a quaint little diner like place in the heart of Kenmore. It's clear that this place is run by locals, for the locals. I remember sitting down and ordering hot chocolate with extra whipped cream on top. It seemed like it couldn't come fast enough. Dad and I had a long conversation about how great it felt to finish the race and how we were about to undo it all eating all this junk and putting it into our bodies. Next was the biscuits and gravy. The one time I went to Florida, a waitress was shocked I had never heard of the breakfast and so she gave me a sample. I fell in love. Jay's cafe did not disappoint in the least. Their biscuits and gravy rivaled any southern kitchen with the artery clogging that went on.

This place is perfect to go after a heavy workout or a long night of partying to hearty. The new Denny's of Kenmore!

I've driven by this place a hundred times, but I've never gone in. Maybe I should try it. I love biscuits and gravy.
