Deep in the land of Cougars, on the outskirts of campus lies a award-winning hidden treasure. Ferdinand's is an ice cream and cheese shop near the agricultural buildings of Washington State University that sells delicious ice cream and some of the best cheese in the state. the cheese here is so good that over 250 thousand of the 30 ounce tins that it is contained in are sold every year. Cougar Gold(The Signature Cheese) is by far the most popular being responsible for about 80% of the total cheese sales. The Gold is an aged sharp cheddar that in the can, is said to keep indefinately, building long life flavor as it ages. The creamery produces 8 different cheeses and a wide variety of freshly made thick ice cream among other things. The cheese is shipped nation wide for loyal customers all over the country. The cougar gold recieved a gold medal at the 2006 world cheese awards and has been receiving awards since 1993. I was first brought to the delicious creamery on my first trip to Pullman with my Coug guide, AKA my mom who attended Washington State University. The location of Ferdinand's Ice Cream Shoppe is perfect for WSU tailgaters looking for a tradiional treat before the game as it is just a short walk from the stadium and the parking lots.
