My friends really wanted to take advantage of the Lobster Summer features at The Keg before they're taken off the menu (the features end this Sunday), so we found a day I didn't have to work and went in for dinner one night. Lobster Summer runs from about mid-June to late August, and you can get a whole 2 pound lobster, sirloin and half lobster, lobster crusted sirloin, or seafood sirloin. I had been staring at this stuff for weeks, so I passed on the lobster and ordered a custom 12oz New York with a topper of blue cheese and roasted garlic. I convinced one of my friends to order the chipotle mac & cheese and the lobster gratinee appetizer (chunks of lobster meat in an escargot dish smothered with garlic butter and cheese) and mix them together to make lobster mac!
After a few drinks and with our stomachs full of lobster and steak, we grabbed some blankets and pillows and headed to Eastgate Park (the baseball field at South Bellevue Community Center). Bellevue Parks has been showing outdoor movies every Tuesday week on a large inflatable projection screen. The first few movies were shown at Bellevue Downtown Park. The movies are all PG rated and they encourage everyone to come and enjoy this family friendly event. Each night is dedicated to supporting a different cause, such as Hopelink, Youthcare, or Boys & Girls Club. The movies are free but they encourage you to bring donations, depending on which organization they're supporting that night. We plopped down and watched the original Ghostbusters from the 80's...next week's showing is Back to the Future!
If you want to know more info on this outdoor movie series (what movie, what organization, what kind of donations to bring, which park) here's the link:
