Zocalo, I wonder what does word "Zocalo" mean in Mexican. Oh I just checked on Google and it says it means “base". Well I cannot connect the meaning and this restaurant in anyway but I am sure there must be some connection, if nothing then at least Mexican.
Well visit to this place was planned by my friends so it came like a surprise. Apart from Indian I have developed my taste for Mexican food in last 4 years.
Zocalo is for those who are looking for a Great Friday Fine Dining. We made our reservation and I along with my friends entered the restaurant .It was dark and I landed in the bar of this restaurant.
It gave a feeling of a warm atmosphere which includes exposed walls, Decorative tiles and hand painted ceramics.
We had to wait for 5 min but soon we got into dining area. I was impressed with the decoration. A lady was standing at the entrance, in the dark it looked real but it was actually made of bamboos. It looked like a piece of art which is rare to find.
We were seated and given the menu cards. We all ordered vegetarian. I ordered buritto.Both I and my daughter have taste for it. Let me describe you how the burrito looked and tasted. It was BIG........ingredients inside were black beans, capsicum, rice, mushrooms and other vegetables.
All the vegetables were stir fried before they filled it inside the wrap. Anyway it tasted neither sweet nor sour. Just different. I cannot rate it but yes it is one tasty and healthy meal. It took me a while to finish it.
I always like fresh chips served with sauce at Mexican restaurants and they are free. So it adds up to the pleasure of having it. Also I ordered Ginger ale which was not punchy but it complemented my mood that time to have something light yet not alcoholic.
My friends ordered Sangaria.Oh they loved it.
One thing that I liked most about this place was there Cutleries. The shape and style of glasses were unique.
In total this place is very welcoming and definitely scores high in my list. Whenever I will have my special friends I will take them here. Why it scores high is because of warm atmosphere , fresh and excellent food.
