It was my friend (And fellow geoblogger) Kevin Moriarty's birthday last week and he told me he was in the mood for Spanish cuisine. I did a little on-line research w/ Geopage & Yelp! and Tapa the World seemed perfect for our college budgets and had pretty good reviews. Despite it's cheesy name, Tapa the World was absolutely delicious!!! The restaurant has a charming ambiance and was dimly lit. The restaurant itself is connected to a hookah bar next door so you have the option of having hookah with your dinner outside. We had a larger party and it was freezing last week so we got sat in the back next to the open kitchen that was detailed with Spanish tiles. Parking was easy to find and was on the street right next to the restaurant. Our server was experienced and friendly and my party ordered an assortment of tapas, drinks, entrees, and sangria right away. The food came out quickly and was both aesthetically appealing and absolutely delicious!
The only negatives were that the dishes are a tad pricey but they're affordable and totally WORTH IT. Expect to spend about $40+ for drinks, tapas, and entree. I recommend not wasting your money on the entree because a bunch of tapas itself are pretty filling. I ordered an the Heart of Spain sandwich as my entree and I ended up eating only two bites because I was SO full from bread and tapas. I was also a little disappointed that vinaigrette for my bread was not included and they charge you a dollar or two. ALSO - be weary when ordering the scallops, my boyfriend claims he got food poisoning that night because they were undercooked. I ate one piece and I was fine but he ate three pieces so he could be right. No one else in my party got food poisoning that night.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Anyone want to go back & try the Paella with me soon?
