My first sushi experiences

About eight months ago my roommate dragged me out to a Shune Japanese restaurant claiming while telling me "You aren't adventurous enough and need to try new things." Knowing I would lose this argument I decided to go along and try to eat sushi, a food I was terrified of. I was very fearful of raw fish and everything about it. I was scared it was going to make me sick, the texture was going to be funny, or that I may be allergic to it. We go into Shune and the place is packed. It's loud and there are many people laughing, using their chopsticks and enjoying their dinners. I sit down at the table and look at a menu. Everything was so cheap! For 5.95, one could have six Seattle rolls, a sushi that has raw salmon, avocado, cucumber, and is garnished with roe. Each table is equipped with plenty soy sauce and ginger to satisfy the most finicky eaters with serving sushi just the way they like it. The first bites were anxiety stricken. Biting into the raw salmon was a new experience for me. I had never tasted anything quite like it. The texture was very gummy yet I could sink my teeth through it. It was very uncomfortable once my taste buds started to digest the roe. The roe brought a sensation of discomfort to me for I didn't like the slimy orange eggs going down my throat. However, after swallowing the Seattle roll, my stomach was extremely satisfied. I finished my plate and asked for a dessert menu. I was not impressed with their selection of dessert but luckily Azteca was right across the street and I knew how much I loved their fried ice cream and couldn't wait to divulge in that. At $3.95 I loved every last minute of my fried ice cream. It was crunchy yet cool and all topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce.
