Did you know that The Violet Hour's "Romeo & Juliet" fancy drink is the third best cocktail in America? And while yes I think it's amazing, that's not just me saying it. It was voted by GQ magazine. I think that in itself was reason enough for me to go check it out.
Getting inside, which is a project, because from the outside there is no marker for where the door is... it just kind of blends into the brick of the building. And no signage. But once you finally make it into the building it's so worth it. A fabulous lounge atmosphere that isn't too dark (lit by candles everywhere), and isn't too loud (once they fill the high back chairs they start turning people away), and isn't too expensive. More expensive than your local bar, yes, but it's no Wit Hotel (look for future blog on THAT). I shared the mini cheesesteaks and the asiago flatbread with my friend, and sipped on a couple glasses of their smooth red wine. I know I should've had a cocktail since that is what they're famous for, but I can't turn down a good glass of red. I just can't. Plus...it's good for your heart ;]
If you ever want to check this place out give me a holler and I'll tell you how to find the hidden door (top secret after all).
