Is Old Spaghetti Factory really legit? Can it truly live up to its name? So far..that's a no.
So I went to Old Spaghetti Factory last week for a birthday, which was one of the hundreds of October birthdays I participated. I think it's rather interesting how so many people have birthdays in October. It must be a good month.
After getting the invite, I was definitely little suspicious of Old Spaghetti Factory. I've had countless of "horrible" experiences at chain restaurants like Olive Garden. Either the service was horrible, the bread was too stale or the food was just plain tasteless. But I had my hopes for OSF.
The ride there was smooth and parking was surprisingly hard to find. We had to fight for a parking spot with a mean SUV which took 15 minutes. After getting seated, I find out that most of the people there actually worked at Old Spaghetti Factory but at another location. So my first thought was "great!", I'll have actual advice on what not to get. After some casual conversation, I finally resorted to getting the spaghetti vesuvius meal which packs a myriad of meats, tomato sauce and garlic.
It sounds great? Surprisingly, it was tasty and filling but I wasn't sure if it was due to the fact that I was really hungry from the 20 min wait or if it was truly appetizing. This was the same story for most of us but there were a few who found out that we were pretty much paying for the exquisite atmosphere rather than the food. One individual had ravioli which tasted like it came out of the can. It was tasteless and dry and we didn't even bother getting a to-go-box for it. Another friend had plain spaghetti and that too was pretty tasteless like it just had plain tomato sauce and meat poured over it. I was pretty disappointed that it could come from a place like this and for that, I say come to OSF for the atmosphere but don't keep your hopes up for the food
All in all, a fun experience; Definitely no complaints on my end after enjoying the ice cream cake we had there.
