88 degrees, a cool spring breeze, an Arnold Palmer in my left and a book in my right. Anyone would dream of this situation while sitting at their office desk plugging away at mundane work that suffocates us all. I was graced with the opportunity to visit my Gramma and her husband Dick, at their house down in La Quinta, California for a short stint during my Spring Break. Along with the weather and some goods in my hands, I was gazing at luscious green grasses, iconic blue water and a golf course that many wish to play on, let alone live on! I was on PGA West TPC Stadium course soaking up the good life.
Growing up I was influenced to play and enjoy golf by my Gramma and Papa. I have always enjoyed competitive games with my friends and on occasion a leisure round when playing with my family. As college came around I did not have the funds or desire to play golf anymore and began to lose the spirit for the game. Once I stepped foot onto TPC a rush of excitement, memories, and an itch to get back into swing things came about. A course that is nationally renowned as a Top 100 course and Top 5 hardest course in America, I was at the Mecca of golf.
Gliding around in my Grammas cart chatting like a couple of women, I was back with the game. This course is no course for beginners or even professionals! Long green fairways with deadly areas of rough make for a very challenging game. Hole after hole the views continued to get better and better as did the difficulty. Not having golfed for over two years, I was a little shaky at first but came into my own as we finished up the front 9.
The quality of the course was impeccable! The greens only required a tap of the putter and sand traps that felt like sand dunes of Death Valley were strategically placed on each hole causing a rise in my score. A truly amazing experience. First class course and treatment was exactly what I needed for my Spring Break.
