Like most working people in the world, I cherish my free time on the weekends. I catch up on errands, see friends and, most importantly, make time to go out to breakfast. For me, there's something really special about going out to breakfast as opposed to lunch or dinner. Growing up, it was always my Dad's favorite meal and even to this day, for his birthday, he always picks a breakfast spot to celebrate rather than a fancy dinner. Having time for breakfast, usually, means it's a non-work day and a time to kick back, relax and enjoy.
On Sunday, my boyfriend and I went to breakfast at Atlas in U Village. We chose a great spot in the shade on the patio and enjoyed delicious coffee, eggs, toast and fruit. We spent about two hours chatting about the weekend, laughing about the previous night... and how to start planning for his upcoming move.
Moving is always an expensive, time-consuming process that requires great organization and lots of patience. At breakfast, we talked about how he needs boxes to start packing up his current place. We thought about heading out to Costco where you can buy a pack of moving boxes (all shapes & sizes), but then quickly learned after some iPhone research, that the Costco boxes can cost upwards of $40. Not wanting to spend $40, we ventured to the nearby QFC after breakfast and went to the produce section in the back. There, employees informed us of a secret spot where they always leave "extra boxes" for anyone to take. We eagerly took all the boxes we could hold and plan to revisit regularly until his moving day.
Great breakfast + free stuff = great Sunday.
