Chicago Movie Night?
I don’t know if it was just me and my friends or the city, but I remember having a hard time trying to find a movie theater in downtown Chicago. As I am writing, now I think it is a little bit of both.
Chicago, to begin with, is literally a big city of which downtown is multiple times bigger than downtown Seattle. It must be that the city is filled predominantly with so many great eye catching theaters, art galleries, restaurants, and shopping malls that it is just so difficult to notice a movie theater with a normal amount of attention.
On the top of that, we didn’t do our homework to look up the location before we head out, thinking that walking around the city, we would easily stumble upon a movie theater.
Tired of walking and asking around people, we decided to get in a cab and the driver took us 6-7 blocks to the AMC theater on Wells Street.
If in downtown Seattle, I would usually choose to go to Regal Cinema over AMC just because Regal has more movies and good coffee. However, this AMC theater that I went to was different. It was a huge independent building with great interior and friendly staff and they had over 20+ movie choices even though it might have been the wonderful time of the year that I went there. (late December).
There was a long line but the multiple booths cut it quick so we didn’t have to wait long at all.
We watched ‘Marley & Me’ to feel some Christmas warmth and our AMC experience ended up quite pleasantly with their super-comfy spacious seats, optimum room temperature, and great popcorns to complete the relaxing ambiance!
If you ever want to catch a movie in downtown Chicago, don’t hassle. I recommend you to go to AMC on Wells Street!
