As my alarm sounded I woke up to my 5:00am wakeup call. Unlike most work days in the past, I was ready to get up and get out the door. I recently started working out of an office located on the Kirkland waterfront. The Kirkland waterfront is truly a beautiful place and really gives off a good vibe. As I rolled into work I found myself craving that heavily caffeinated beverage, known as coffee. Coffee is pretty much my life and is a necessity to getting the day off right. I stopped by a local coffee shop that goes by the name of Cafe Landro. Cafe Landro is an espresso Bar & Bakery that serves fine espresso and baked goods. They have multiple locations that I am familiar with including: Queen Anne, Freemont, Capitol Hill, West Seattle and of course Kirkland; Kirkland, being my favorite. Now that I had my coffee I was ready for a busy day at work. As the hours passed lunch time came about. For lunch I decided to meet up with my dad in downtown Kirkland. We thought we would try something new and go with something we had never had. We ended up at a southwestern Mexican restaurant that went by the name of Cactus Restaurant. The restaurant was very trendy and had a great atmosphere with outside seating which was a must for a sunny day on the Kirkland waterfront. Cactus had an amazing menu which gave me a hard time deciding on what I was going to order. In the mean time as we looked over the menu we started off with the Mexican lemonade to drink. This beverage consisted of lemonade, jalapeños and cilantro to top it off. I know, sounds a bit weird, but indeed was great! I would most definitely recommend it, very tasty! I ended up deciding to go with the House Chimichanga which too was very good. Not only was the food great but so was the service. From the atmosphere, to the food, to the service the Cactus Restaurant got a 9 on a scale from 1-10 in my opinion. After this great afternoon lunch I went back to work and finished off the long work day. What I enjoy about the Kirkland waterfront is, if it's sunny you know people will be out at the beach. If I am fortunate and am able to get out of the office at a good time I can always count on ending my day with a good game of beach volleyball.
