My dad was an entertainment photographer, so I grew up going to concerts, visiting radio stations and meeting rock stars - so it only made sense to pursue a career in Radio. I worked for Viacom and Clear Channel, the epitome of corporate TV and Radio. I thought that was what I was supposed to do, until I started to feel physically ill. That's when I realized I wasn't meant to be stuffed behind a desk. My soul longed to be fulfilled creatively, damn it! That's when the Girl About Town blog was born. I started writing the GAT blog for the Seattle PI in January 2007. Several months later I partnered with Seattle Spin to create the Seattle Spin Girl About Town "what's happening" monthly newsletter. About the same time I Co-Founded Girl Power Hour, a women's monthly social networking event.
