About Me
Title: Associate Actuary
Organization: Buck Consultants

I was born in Seoul, Korea and raised there. Then I was forced to move to Oakville - a tiny town that is 40 minutes away from Toronto - when I was 16. It has turned out to be a wise movement, but I wasn't mature enough back then to realize that. I fought for my friends, love, and all that typical stuff that 5-yr-old kid would hang on to. Did simply not want to leave them. They were my life!
Thank God and my dad for all that punishments that eventually had my eyes wide open and recognize what was indeed wise.

Immigrant....
What a beautiful, exciting, and adventurous yet scary, pitiful, and FOBBY word...
I hate to say this but I was a super FOB and still am. From the top of my head to toes, I am looking, acting, talking and even crying oriental. Cannot resist this. All I could do is to show these guys what it's like to compete with a Korean guy in a math classroom... And you know what happened. I ended up scoring the highest in school and ranked 1st in a math contest in the whole local region that consists of 2 towns and 2 cities.

And that brought me to this school, University of Waterloo, the Canadian MIT. It is best known for having prestigious engineering and computer programs. I began as a computer science student but in my 2nd year switched to Actuarial Science.
Why? Well, I hated dealing with computers for 8/5/48/252 (8 hrs a day, 5 days a week, 48 weeks a year excluding vacation weeks, 252 days a year... didn't bother taking days off from 252... bear with it)
I'd rather play with numbers and calculate the risk of deaths of people... And actuaries make $$$$$$$....

And here I am now. I have graduated with decent grades and leadership experience, and passed three actuarial exams yet have 5 more to go. I will soon begin my career in either insurance or consulting field, depending on the final match. I hope to thrive in an interesting and entrepreneurial environment. Then in 10-15 yrs I'll eventually start my own business. Yay!!!
