I grew up 25 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio, and acquired a passion for politics and public service from my mother and grandfather. I pursued my undergraduate degree in political science Indiana, and then moved north to the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago. While there I began my career with the City of Oak Park and obtained a masters degree in public administration. I later worked in government and regulatory affairs in Chicago's northwest suburbs.
In 2001 my brother finally convinced me to move west, and I worked for a short time in project management at AT&T Wireless.
I've been an avid swimmer all my life, and still enjoy masters swimming. When I'm not working I try to spend my time outdoors with my dog, Louie.
