I've had good experiences at their Greenlake and Eastlake locations. Last Friday night....not so good. Our waiter was great: fast, friendly service and not pushy at all when we decided to stay and watch the overtime of the West Virginia vs. Marshall football.

HOWEVER, my fish and chips were so heavily breaded, I had to peel the bread off of the fish leaving a pile of Pillsbury dough on my plate. The fish was so heavily breaded that one of the pieces of fish was undercooked (parts of it raw) that it was inedible. To top it off, my friend caught a severe case of food poisoning from the lamb gyros and got sick 30 minutes after getting home. Really bad when a restaurant sidelines you from a Husky home game.

Meh.

I ordered a veggie burger (no pesto majo) with a salad instead of fries. The food was delicious! The burger was good and had havarti cheese, generous portions of avocado, lettuce, and tomato on a toasted ciabatta bun. I would have enjoyed it they didn't butter the buns. If I ever go back, I will probably hold the cheese and request dry a dry bun. The house wine was also decent, but not the best.

Is it me, or does 3-5 p.m. happy hour seem totally unrealistic -- cruel even?

Even on good days, I'm not punching out of work until at least 6 p.m., which means I've missed out on the majority of Seattle's happy hour goodness. Don't get me started about 10 p.m. happy hour.

Well Goldilocks, Southlake Grill (SLG) offers a "just-right" 9 p.m. start time with happy hour offerings 7-days week. I love being able to get in a good work-out before meeting up with some pals for QT over food and drinks. At 9 p.m. street parking abounds and you never wait for a table! Pops, beers and cocktails remain full thanks to attentive servers and for only $1 or $2 you can add fries or sweet potato fries to most dishes. Also, depending upon the day, SLG features super specials like 1/2 off any drink (Tues.) and 1/2 of the entire menu (Sun.)!

SLG is definitely no culinary extravaganza... look elsewhere if you want deconstructed caprese salad to explode on your tongue. This is a no-fuss, casual neighborhood joint you can drop by whenever and know there's an open seat waiting for you. Whether celebrating a win with your co-ed team or catching up with a girlfriend -- SLG is a place where you can go to just be. Of course, after 9 p.m. you'll be happier when the check comes!

you gotta love a place that has well priced and good food. The music is loud and fun, a geat place to bring friends for a classy drink and happy hour food. the service is always good, especially because it is a laid-back place. more of a mature spot, not for the couple with kids, but great for a drink or four. blackened burger and jalopeno mac and cheese are great!!! both on happy hour too! lots of coupons floating around too.

Went into the Southlake Grill with 8 friends after a coed sporting event and were shuffled unceremoniously to the bar despite several open and adjacent tables. After a couple of our group found the bar a crowed and awkward space to eat and drink we made the decision to make a move to a couple of table. Staff seemed insulted by our initiative. 10 minutes later they came to take our drink order and 15 minutes after that they came to ask about our food order. By that time we?d decided to move on. It was Wednesday $5 steak night, but it wasn?t that busy. Certainly not busy enough to necessitate a 25 minute wait. I couldn?t tell if they were trying to get our order outside of happy hour pricing or if they were just bored. Negligent or indifferent?either choice a poor one. Since we?ll be enjoying sporting events in the neighborhood for the rest of the summer we?ll look for a better attitude and better service in one of the numerous nearby establishments. Guess we just didn't measure up to the kind of customers they are looking for.

Normally a great lunch place, but they have perhaps changed cooks? Had the fish N chips, the breading was extremely thick and not cooked all the way through; the coleslaw was so dry I thought they forgot the dressing. The manager brought another serving of coleslaw, explaining that perhaps they didn't stir it, but it was actually dry cabbage! Prior experiences show that this is not an isolated incident; they twice gave me Mediteranean chicken Salads with black olives instead of the listed Greek olives. Great Service, nice atmosphers, just so-so food. Am also a frequent Greenlake Grill customer; Eastlake Grill fares pretty poorly in comparison.

long story short, i've been here twice, especially after the first dinner. second time was for sunday brunch. the environment itself is nicely designed with a dash of athleticism; a classy sports bar if you will. seating has been prompt both during dinner hours and morning breakfast; all the seating and booths have been comfortable. for a "sports bar" the noise isn't too overpowering to conduct a casual conversation, or even just sit and enjoy. the menu is just diverse enough to be different but not pretentious or intimidating, and the food better than average, even if served a bit slowly. the asian bbq salmon sandwich is fantastic, and the fries which fill the rest of the plate not greasy or soggy. if you get a chance to eat during their 'sunset dinner' hours, it's quite a deal, as well as sundays when food is 1/2 price. whether these are ongoing specials or more of a grand opening promotion, be sure to take advantage of this gem of a place. and if you decide to park at REI, the ramp is free for the first hour, not 90 minutes as listed; but an hour is still plenty of time to grab a quick bite.

Southlake Grill offers a fairly standard neighborhood restaurant menu. The food ranges from average to good, but don't expect any culinary feats to be accomplished when you dine here. The service is generally friendly and attentive, though the quality takes a dive if you are seated in the bar area. They have a great happy hour menu, with cheap wine, beer, and well drinks, as well as a limited cheap appetizer list.
