Island-inspired roti and curries of all kinds attract a varied North Shore crowd.
November 23, 2008
In Short
This downtown Evanston hideaway exudes tropical flavor in glowing orange lights and jungle paintings. Modern reggae music flowing from the speakers lends an upbeat ambience, matched by the friendly disposition of staff. Weekend evenings the plush chocolate brown booths are filled to capacity with a diverse array of locals, from young couples to large groups. Mouth-watering eats like jerk chicken with fries and goat curry go well with Jamaican red punch and a wide range of island cocktails, which also keep the party atmosphere pumping. Find homemade caramel cake and rum raisin ice cream for dessert.

Great place for authentic Jamaican food and tropical drinks
May 28, 2009
(4.0 / 5 stars)
Everything I've tried during several trips to this Evanston gem - from the tropical drinks and appetizers to the main course and dessert - has been wonderful. The service is friendly, the ambiance warm, and, above all, the food is terrific. Make sure you ask for the caramel cake to be warmed up - it will melt in your mouth.
Pros:
Wide selection of great Jamaican food and drinks

Great Jamaican Food!
October 07, 2008
(5.0 / 5 stars)
I tried this new place with a date and it was great! The ambience is the best of any Jamaican restaurant I've been to: romantic lighting, great decor and a nice mix of old and new reggae music. Full bar with lots of choices with fun names like Bob Marleytini and Mandingo! The food was authentic and my server was very knowledgable and friendly. We will definitely be back again!!!
Pros:
Authentic Jamaican Food, Great Service and Ambience
Cons:
None!
