GeoPage uses a unique scoring system (0-10) to give you a new and quick way to determine the popularity of a place without having to read lengthy reviews across various sites.
This score is generated by compiling ratings, recommendations, reviews, and blogs from multiple sources and creating a bell curve score that rates this venue compared to its direct competition - specific category, cuisine type, and location.

This subterranean hideout is a popular weekend spot for the black-clad set.
May 25, 2004
The Scene
Since there's no sign (or any other indication, besides muted industrial bass drum hits) getting in is an adventure--the entrance is located in an alley under a parking garage, and the club usually requires membership or accompaniment by a member. The large space includes plenty of seating, a pool table and a reasonably big dance floor, though it can get quite crowded late on Saturday nights.
The Draw
Gawkers: stay away. Between its membership policy and its dress code, the Mercury is serious about providing a safe, congenial atmosphere for Seattle's darker nightlife. Weeknights draw a small but steady crowd of regulars; things heat up on the weekends, with the latest goth, industrial, and powernoise in heavy rotation--chances of hearing the Sisters of Mercy or Bauhaus are low. The DJ is open to requests, and the drinks are strong enough to require heavy lifting.

Avoid Saturday, Strong Drinks, Generous Bartenders.
October 27, 2008
(4.0 / 5 stars)
I can't get over the superficial reviews that are being posted about The Merc. Who doesn't remember the "goth kids" in high-shool who were not popular and were always lumped in with the "nerds"? I've always been able to spot plenty of 'eye-candy" both male and female. The drinks are strong and cheap and people are friendly, as long as you take the time to talk to them. The music is always better and the crowd more diverse on Friday's. Saturday's are good, as long as you go early. There is a female DJ there, that plays some good stuff, but tends to play more female driven dance on Saturdays. I would have to agree that the music is always better and more consistent with goth/industrial on Fridays.
Pros:
Strong Drinks, Easy to get to, Good Music on Friday's
Cons:
Bad Music on Saturdays

Seattle has a very small goth/industrial scene so don't expect a lot when you come here.So far there are 2 clubs to chose from.At Mercury, the most rude and unfriendly people work the door.Do not tip them! They say they are all volunteers but they do get paid.Along with the smoke, there is snobbiness in the air. But once you take a look at the actual people, you wonder why because they are mostly overweight, dungeon and dragon, computer software, introverts. The people don't bother to dress up. The girls wear ponytails, cargo pants, and don't bother with makeup. The guys are mostly old and bald. Many of the regulars wear the same thing every weekend.Once in a while you spot an attractive person. The djs are burned out and just don't care what they play because it's usually the same songs by the same bands. They do theme nights once a month that are so ridiculous and have nothing to do with the goth scene.Instead of cool videos, movies are played on the screen. Most people are cool if they are drunk enough to be friendly. The bartenders are great and they make cheap, strong drinks that you will definitley be needing to last a night in this place. If it's a Saturday,go to noc noc instead, hotter guys and girls and the music is decent.
Pros:
really good,strong drinks, good dance floor,smoking inside(good if you're a smoker)
Cons:
the people

Worst Goth Culb Ever!
July 09, 2006
(1.0 / 5 stars)
This is the worst so-called goth club ever! The only music played is industial, and what sometimes even sounds like techno! If you are looking for eye candy this is definitely not the place for you either. The entire whole in the ground a.k.a. the Mercury, is filled with nothing but a bunch of hairy, overwieght men with no sense of fashion what so ever, and the same applies to the females that frequent this sad excuse for a "nightclub. "
Don't waste your money, good make-up, or time.

Goth Club?
March 28, 2006
(3.0 / 5 stars)
I had frequented this location for a couple years now and recently made a split from it and began to frequent Noc Noc on Saturday nights. This "goth" club claims to be members only, although in the name of the mighty dollar they'll let anyone in, no matter how they are dressed. Gothlings out there, I have a question: when was the last time you went to a club in jeans and a wool sweater?
Though the staff provides great service, this club had it's glory days back when the Catwalk was cool. The music quality has gone down hill, I decided I had made my last visit when the DJ had the audacity to play The Beastie Boys. Oh, and the no smoking law...let me just say they found a loop-hole, so if you are a non-smoking gothling, be prepared.

It's not much for fetishy stuff, and you won't find white face here. This is for folks who are confortable with their darker sides. It's plagued by things that most any club is, but it's small uniqueness keeps me coming back. I like how the dance floor is never too crowded to get out there, and it feels like everyone has a place there. It's a safe dance place for the black clad.
Pros:
the real deal, djs take requests, small & hidden
Cons:
, hard to get membershi

What To Drink:
The full bar averages between $3.50 to $8.00 for well drinks, but they are poured with a generous hand.
