Heady aromas beckon loyal crowds to a classic Fremont cafe.
October 03, 2006
In Short
Tucked into an unassuming storefront on the north slope of Fremont, Lighthouse Roasters serves what many consider to be Seattle's finest cup of coffee. A smattering of friends, neighbors, dogs, groovy murals and artwork provides a comfortable spot to waste away the day. Along with the coffee and espresso offerings, the cafe also serves an assortment of pastries and Odwalla juices.

Good coffee, not the best service
August 04, 2009
(4.0 / 5 stars)
Lighthouse is great for coffee and a good chat with a friend, but their pastries leave something to be desired. And the people who work there are a little aloof for my taste.

My favorite espresso
February 18, 2009
(5.0 / 5 stars)
This is a great neighborhood shop. I wish it was in my neighborhood. I go out of my way to buy espresso for my home machine and always have a shot pulled by one of the talented baristas here.
Pros:
Superb craft roasted coffees.
Cons:
Too far from my home.

fresh coffee and great baked treats
January 09, 2009

The Lighthouse coffee shop is always bustling in the mornings and on the weekends and you can count on great coffee. They have good seating and a great selection of baked items to eat as you enjoy an espresso.

The smoothest latte in Seattle!
June 12, 2006
(5.0 / 5 stars)
I've tried lattes from dozens of coffee shops around Seattle, but keep coming back to Lighthouse. The shots are perfectly pulled with no bitterness and have a wonderful taste and aroma. But what really sets their lattes above the rest, is the use of top quality milk and expert steaming. The end result is creamy, smooth and utterly delicious. I crave Lighthouse lattes every morning, knowing that first sip will be heaven.
The shop itself is comfortable and unpretentious, while the staff are friendly and courteous. Highly recommended!
Pros:
Wonderful coffee, friendly staff
Cons:
Limited parking, can be crowded during peak times

Worth waiting for this decadent brew!

This is very good coffee and well worth the trip, worth the frustration of finding a place to park, and worth the long lines. The coffee is rich and smooth, and simply like sipping heaven.
I now live in Florida but whenever I'm in Seattle (not enough!) I go for this joe. Thankfully I have wonderful friends and family that send me beans. The coffee shop gladly ships beans, also.
Pros:
Fantastic coffee, Supurb espresso, Luscious latte
Cons:
Lines on weekends, Not in Florida

Light House Roasters
February 09, 2006
(5.0 / 5 stars)
The coffee here has it's good days and bad days... and the good days are not great. Although it's a great place to hang out, the coffee isn't up to par to what it used to be. I don't know what happened they were awesome back in '04. I keep sporadically going back hoping it will be better. Go to Cafe Vivace in Cap Hill or Zeitgeist in Pioneer Square for better.
Pros:
Good Service, Good Price
Cons:
Not so great Coffee

Maybe it's me...
November 26, 2005
(3.0 / 5 stars)
I read the sparkling reviews of this place and couldn't wait to try their coffee. The first time it was tasty coffee, but came with a mouthful of grounds...as if it were made with a french press that was never pressed. I mean a good tsp to tbsp of grounds. I was picking it out of my teeth for an hour. I thought maybe I got the bitter end of the pot, then I went back and got the same thing. Coffee good, but if you have to stop with about 1/3 to 1/4 of the cup left to avoid grindage, I'll go elsewhere. I love Seattle coffee quite a bit...but I still can't find a piping hot cup anywhere but (oy) Starpukes. Was there some kind of law passed that you can't walk out of a shop with a piping hot cup of coffee (except for SB)...maybe it's me.
Pros:
Good, fresh coffee
Cons:
Grindage

Destination Coffee
November 06, 2005
(5.0 / 5 stars)
When I lived in Seattle I would ride my bike for miles for Lighthouse coffee. Now that I live in California it now 'destination coffee'. Happy dogs, great espresso and Ethopian coffee. The best there is. Drink it.
Pros:
coffee

Nectar of the Gods
May 29, 2005
(5.0 / 5 stars)
Hands down, the premiere shot of espresso in the city. Super smooth, velvety, no trace of cheap grassy, Brazilian bittnerness that defines most every other local roaster. My biggest problem with these guys is that I can't find their outside of Fremont and Ballard.
Pros:
Superior coffee
Cons:
Only in Fremont

Fremont isn't exactly the go-to neighborhood for hot, happening restaurants in the city... but it's home to some of my all-time favorite places.
