Editorial Review by Alice Van Housen
June 18, 2007
(3.5 / 5 stars)
A spirited wine program and oodles of character are behind the success of this contemporary American outpost in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.

Good but the price is a bit high
October 27, 2007
(3.0 / 5 stars)
My wife really liked the ambiance. We arrived on a Saturday and a group of about 10 people showed up in 1776 costumes to enjoy dinner. Not sure what the reason was, but it added to the feel of the place and made it a bit fun to see.
So the reason for the 3 stars is the value for the money. The food was good but the portions were so so. Two drinks, two dinners, and one desert with tip was $80.00 and we both left a little bit hungry. (To be fair, we both had a good appitites.) Overall the price seemed a little high for the value.
Pros:
Good ambiance. Nice intiment cozy atmosphere
Cons:
small portions and price

Cozy place for great local dinner in Crystal Lake
May 04, 2007
(3.0 / 5 stars)
We have visited 5-6 times since moving to Illinois late last year. All our meals have been great, the service is wonderful from the table service to the bar. Good offering of seasonal specials using local stock of meats, vegetables, fruits, etc. Nice wine list from glass of house to cult vintage bottles. The place is small but that is what we enjoy about this local favorite in Crystal Lake. The only issue we have encountered is the rude owners of the place, if they stayed away and let their hired staff handle the business they would come out ahead.
Pros:
good food each visit, great service,. great bar service, fun menu with each season
Cons:
don't try to use coupon given in the mail, after enjoyable dinner received table side drilling from owner to where we got coupon, how rude!

Great for an evening out or for family gatherings
September 19, 2006
(5.0 / 5 stars)
I have been her on many occasions and it impresses me every time. I was here for some family gatherings and the owner was happy to help arrange the tables for us. I was there on a date and the wait staff made it very enjoyable for the two of us. I chose this loaction just becasue of the wait staff and different selection on the menu. I couldn't have been happier at any other place in McHenry County. The menu prices are not the same as let's say Fridays or Chili's, but you pay the difference because this place is on another level of quality.
Pros:
Great for dates and meetings
Cons:
None that I noticed(not a place for little kids)
