Unpretentious Bucktown pub with a small-world theme.
August 16, 2009

This Bucktown bar takes its name from the premise that only six degrees separate any two people, and the owners invite patrons to test that small-world theory by scoping out photos of regulars and friends of the staff that line the walls. A dark wood bar and a half-dozen high-top tables, filled with young professionals from the neighborhood, dominate the front room, where a large mirror over the bar provides ample people watching from every seat. For a more intimate drinking experience, patrons opt for the tables in the small back room. The laid-back crowd comes for the monthly beer specials, the skinny margaritas made with agave nectar and the better-than-average selection of bar food, like juicy turkey burgers and hearty nachos.

Where to Sit:

Grab a seat next to the open French doors for a prime view of the lively street scene.

On the Menu:

The hearty, open-faced Horseshoe sandwich--a choice of meat, topped with cheese fries--pays homage to the owner's hometown of Springfield, Illinois, where this "heart attack on a plate" was invented.

Know Before You Go:

The all-ages license means you don't to leave the kids at home. Keep them busy with dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and other treats from the children's menu.
