Celtic brews and tunes draw a mix-and-match crowd to this popular watering hole.
The Scene
Lincoln Parkers in comfy attire sit alongside DePaul's less adventuresome types, resulting in a neighborhood-meets-college-dorm appeal. Typical accoutrements (think beer-touting mirrors) grace the walls of this angular spot, which is known to draw a particularly young and boisterous crowd--even on weekdays.
The Draw
Irish atmosphere and beer for the anti-martini set. Black and tans are cranked at light speed for local revelers, while DePaul transplants are known to up the ante with Irish car bombs and Red Bull-Jager shots. Plenty of the standards--including Guinness, Harp and Bass--are on hand, tapped and bottled along with domestics. Or opt for a Jameson's; you'll have plenty of company. Tunes, as you might expect, include requisite U2 with accents of Buffett and Diamond. Occasional live bands, both rookie and Irish pro, pack the house--but that doesn't take much at this smallish spot.
